But did you know correct maintenance not only makes the water more appealing but also helps make it SAFE from growing harmful bacteria! That is why regular water analysis is required BY LAW for all Public Pools and Spa's.

Why do i need a Microbiolgical test on my Pool, Spa or Hot Tub?
As Swimming Pools, Hot Tubs and Spa's filter and recirculate the water, it's essentially recycled water and needs proper management to remain clean and safe.
If the water quality is not regularly monitored and the proper steps taken to maintain correct chemical levels, the health of the water can change dramatically, and bacteria can rapidly begin to grow, paticulary in Hot Tubs and Spa's, where the bacteria thrives in the hotter water temperatures.
This can cause outbreaks of infections such as otitis media, otitus interna middle and inner ear infections, gastroenteritis, and more commonly with the presence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, the skin conditions such as Foliculitus. Sadly the potentially fatal Legionnaires disease is also a possibility from high levels of bacteria in the water system.
How often do i need to a microbiological test?
Swimming Pools, Spa's and Hot Tubs operated as part of a business such as a hotel or holiday let for example, or those used by the general public, samples should be taken on a Monthly basis, and Legionella samples taken every 3 months BY LAW.
The testing of private residential Pools, Spa's and Hot Tubs in your garden for example is at the owners discretion and not required by law, however we recommend the same frequency here at The Wizard of Pool and Spa for complete peace of mind.
Uk laws dealing with water quality testing in Pools, Spas and Hot Tubs.
The UK health and safety laws that deal with Swimming Pool, Spa and Hot Tub water quality, testing and treatment only really comes into play if you are running a commercial business. This is places such as Gyms, Hotels, or anywhere the general public are paying to use or rent, including lodges and holiday properties, where wet leisure equipment is provided for use.
The owner and operators of these Pools, Spas and Hot Tubs need to ensure that the water quality and treatment programmes they are using, are effective and meet current standards. Also the testing provides official reports should they be required in court.
For more information both the Health and Safety Executive and the Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group (PWTAG) provide excellent guidance to help operators comply with health and safety law.
Again although the law does not apply to domestic Pools and Spas, the excellent guidelines and standards provided by (PWTAG) make sense to read, understand and follow.
